There are games that are just bad, then there are games that are as
equally stupid as they are bad. Gopher fits the latter statement in every way.
It's one thing for programmers to make a game that sucks but why do they have to make
games that have to also be about as moronic as the worst Saturday Night Live skits? This game reminds me so much of Coconuts, but add some tedious control and gameplay. The graphics are even more immature, then use a concept from a bad nursery rhyme, and don't even blend. Throw it in a bag and get the most painful dissonance I've seen except for Cosmic Corridor and Action 52. Concept: Play as a farmer that looks like a scarecrow tripped up on acid that just got beat over the noggin with a baseball bat. Have him guard his three oversized carrots from a pack of gophers that look as flat as road kill. The gophers run around the bottom of the screen and dig holes to the surface and then steal the carrots. As the farmer, you have to run around with your shovel and fill the holes in before the gophers get to the carrots. You'll score points by filling in the holes and get a big score for actually hitting the gophers on the head with the shovel. Game play is tedious because the gophers are too quick the sound is poor and the graphics just look ridiculous. This doesn't work well with me and adds up to one bad game. Move on and play something better, even Coconuts if you must. |
