Description: Space Hawk came as a result of Bill Fisher playing a copy of John Sohl’s original Astrosmash which was much more like Asteroids than the Astrosmash that was released to the public. Bill’s assignment was to take that original Asteroids-like Astrosmash and make it differ enough from Asteroids that Mattel wouldn’t get sued by Atari which was a task in itself since Atari’s policy seemed to be “file a lawsuit first, ask questions later”.
Easter eggs: Remember the manual disclaimer: "Every once in a while, your space hunter will move near a 'black hole,' and the computer will automatically put him into HYPERSPACE. This will cost you the same number of points as if you had pressed the HYPERSPACE key yourself. On the other hand, it will save your hunter"? It’s there because of a hardware bug in the Intellivision console that occasionally interprets pressing a direction & fire simultaneously as the numeric key “9”, which happens to be the hyperspace key in this game!
