Imagine Pachinko meets Bomberman and you may be able to understand the concept of Bombing Islands. Play as Kid Clown, an outrageously ridiculous kid that is charged with the mission of going to eight worlds and diffusing the bombs on each of the islands. To finish a round, which is a Pachinko style board, you have to slide the bombs around and get them in a specific spot. Then you need to place the red one, which has the wick in the right spot. Then, light it and get out of the way or you will lose a life.

bombingislands1ps1.jpg (7210 bytes)Each one of the bombs has a number from one to three, which is how many squares it will blow up when it goes off. A one will blow only its own square. A two will do one on each side of it, while a three will do two on each side of it. As you progress, the patterns get much tougher to figure out and the challenge increases.

There are sever major problems. For one, the game came out in 2001 and the graphics look barely better than 1st gen Playstation games. Even the FMV is very grainy and the map is very pixilated. The stages have horridly low resolution.

Next is the fact that this game doesn't use a memory card, only a password system and a tedious one at that. It is four characters long but they are in the form of a deck of cards. You are forced to write down their suites and face values which takes forever.

Next is the fact that this game is so overbearingly childish it almost kills it completely. The music sounds like you are on a merry go round and at the start of every round, Kid Clown says this extremely high pitched YEAH!! This will drive you insane and forces you to turn down the volume.

This game has some strong points, but is incredibly obnoxious. In the meantime, I won't completely bash it but I really can't recommend it except for die hard puzzle fans. Even then there are better games out there. Play this at your own risk.
